Caliopa acquired by Huawei (China) PDF
 

9 September 2013 - Baekeland Fund II is pleased to announce that its portfolio company Caliopa has been acquired by the Chinese ICT group Huawei.  

The deal, which was completed on 6 August 2013, will give Huawei full ownership of Caliopa,  a spin-off company from the Photonics Research Group of imec and Ghent University (UGent) founded in 2010 with financial support from Baekeland Fund II, Fidimec, PMV and individual investors.  

Caliopa develops and commercializes silicon photonics based optical transceivers for the data and telecommunications markets.  Caliopa is based in Ghent (Belgium) and will continue its strong partnership with UGent and imec following this acquisition.
